(Belfast, Northern Ireland – August 29, 2024) Rev. Bob Fu, president of ChinaAid Association, was invited to attend the “Bangor Worldwide Missionary Convention” in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where he delivered a keynote speech as a special guest.

The convention was established in 1937, provides a unique space to hear, learn, and respond to the call and mission of the Lord Jesus Christ to make disciples of all nations and to make Jesus known throughout the world. It is dedicated to engaging people of all ages in global missions, encouraging them to embrace the challenges of prayer, giving, and action.

The theme of this year’s convention, “Reaching People, Changing Lives,” focuses on spreading God’s Word to the ends of the earth and transforming lives among all nations. The event runs from August 16 to August 25, 2024. Most of the activities are held at Hamilton Road Presbyterian Church, with some events taking place at the neighboring Baptist church. Outside of Bangor, Worldwide meetings are held in Belfast, Portstewart, Drumreagh, Magherafelt and Dollingstown as well as Drogheda and Dublin.

At the launching events of the Convention, Chairman Tom Clarke stated, “Our theme for 2024 is Reaching People, Changing Lives. This captures the essence of what the convention has been about since its inception in 1937. There is the activity of people, whether in distant lands or on this island, being reached for the Gospel and many lives being changed as a result. However, there is another aspect; some who attend the convention will be reached by the challenge laid down by the speakers and have their lives totally changed by answering the call to respond.”

On August 16, Rev. Bob Fu served as the keynote speaker for the “20/30’s Friday Gathering” at Hamilton Road Baptist Church. On August 19, during a session at Hamilton Road Presbyterian Church in Bangor that focused on the Far East, particularly China, his insights into the daily struggles of Christians living in China sparked great interest among the convention participants.

On August 20, during a prayer event at the Welcome Center of Hamilton Road Presbyterian Church, Rev. Bob Fu served as the speaker. The prayer meeting invites everyone to come before the Lord and commit all that is planned for the day ahead to the Lord in prayer.

This year, Pastor Fu’s message at the convention focused on the themes of persecution, resilience, and revival. He emphasized that Christ Jesus is the only Lord, and no earthly leader can hinder the advancement of God’s Kingdom.

The convention’s Prayer Center specifically prayed for Brother Gao Zhisheng, a well-known lawyer who has been forcibly disappeared by the Chinese government for over seven years. In the streets of Bangor, Northern Ireland, banners bearing Gao Zhisheng’s image and the message “We will find Gao Zhisheng” were displayed. The brothers and sisters at the Bangor Worldwide Missionary Convention prayed for him, overflowing with the love of Christ Jesus, demonstrating their determination to find Brother Gao Zhisheng.
